    really big pain

    It was a part I had to have or I wouldn't have done it. The Spark Arrester part itself is fine. It's removing the old one and installing the new one that is the problem. I had to go buy a slide hammer because no one I knew had one, $33 more. Not that it's a big deal but I ruined the old one getting it out. The spark arrester does not just go in with a twist like in the video. I had to say a prayer and break out the dead blow hammer to pop it into place as I was about done with this thing. It's in now, works as it should and looks fine.

    Install pain

    As others mentioned the removal of the stock insert was very challenging. I used the slide hammer puller as per the video which got it started, but wouldn’t get it all the way out (appeared to jam where insert bends internally). Then had use the broom handle bashing technique in the video too. Might have been cheaper (no buying new tool) and just as effective to start with broom handle method, I don’t think the puller did anything the broom wouldn’t have. It took a painful number of whacks and force, and wooden broom handle has seen better days, but I was out of ideas and it popped out relatively easily once I stopped worrying about breaking something (nothing broke). Install of the arrester itself was easy once stock insert was out.

    Difficult Process

    Bought the full Yoshi system. Great pipe and sound but quickly learned to hate it when I tried to remove the insert it came with and replace with Yoshimura spark arrestor. I tried everything to remove the insert it came with and even bought a slide hammer/puller set as suggested by them in an online video. After 2 hours of trying, cut fingers and rendering the original insert non reusable, I got it out. Putting in the spark arrestor was just as unpleasant. Love the pipe but nightmare on my pipe installing arrestor.

    Sorry for the bad experience Tom... The RS4S is a tricky insert to remove and install for sure. In the future if you ever have any issues with installs we have a group of folks here answering calls and emails that are happy to help get you pointed in the right direction and hopefully minimizing your frustrations.
